Enabling New Mobility SolutionsSince mobility is increasingly getting automated and cars resemble more and more computers on wheels the amount of information to be distributed and processed inside the vehicle is dramatically rising. The central compute platform need to be connected to zone controllers with high data rate within a smart vehicle architecture. Besides, evolution of the vehicle’s “eyes and ears” like antennas, cameras, radars, lidars, and other sensors drive the exploding no of high speed interconnections as well as displays with increasing size and resolution.To fulfill the needs of fast and reliable data highways APTIV is developing differential and coaxial high speed connectors and assemblies (HSCA). Because the data cable is a significant part of the whole interconnection we are seeking for an high speed data cable engineer in order to further strengthen our system competency. Then apply and get part of the technology company that’s transforming the future of mobility today.Main Duties And Responsibilities- Responsibility for all product engineering topics related to differential and coaxial data cables in HSCA business at APTIV EMEA (coordination of requirements, creation of specifications for data cables in terms of dimensions, materials, signal integrity/EMC performance, electrical and mechanical characteristics, creation and maintenance of a cable databas, support of advanced SI/EMC design guidelines
- RF measurements to verify signal integrity and EMC performance of raw data cables and cable assemblies acc. various standards (e.g. Open Alliance, customer specific)
- Development of test methods and implementation of corresponding equipment in alignment with product & process engineering and quality department (Data cable and cable assembly specific tests, end of line quality inspection of cable assembly production)
- Coordination of development activities for new data cables with external suppliers and APTIV internally for optimum performance, robustness and costs of the whole cable assembly
- Participation in work groups and standardization committees (e.g. DIN Arbeitskreis Elektrische Fahrzeugleitungen, ISO 19642)
- Visit of cable suppliers, equipment suppliers, relevant fairs and conferences
- Master degree in electrical or telecommunication engineering or bachelor degree with minimum 3 years of relevant experience in high speed data connector or cable development
- Proficient handling of RF test equipment for SI and EMC measurements (vector network analyzer, TDR, oscilloscope, EMC tube/triaxial cell etc.)
- Experience in data analysis and lab automation tools (e.g. LabView, Matlab)
- Business fluent English and good German language skills
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Self-motivated, proactive working style and team player
- Willingness to travel at least 1-2x per quarter (e.g. to cable suppliers, customers, production sites)
- Experience in cable assemblies/harness manufacturing methods, processes and equipment (wire cutting, stripping, contact/terminal crimping, resistance welding, marking…)
- Knowledge in electromagnetic field simulation (e.g. ANSYS HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, FEKO) and electronic circuit simulation (e.g. SPICE)
- Experience with databases (e.g. MS Access, SQL Server) and programming languages (e.g. C++, Visual Basic)
- Background in methodology and tools for requirements engineering (e.g. Polarion, Doors), product development (e.g. FMEA, DFM) and statistics (e.g. Six Sigma, Design of Experiments)
- Experience in standardization activities
